The Londoner Bed and Breakfast

I'm so behind!  I'm just now posting about a weekend getaway we took in August to Bradenton and Sarasota (south of Tampa Bay).  We left the 5th wheel behind at the RV park, and Maggie went to the kennel, so we could stay at a bed and breakfast, in Bradenton, owned by a delightful British lady named Jenny.

During the heat of the summer they offer special rates!

If it hadn't been so hot I could have spent some pleasant hours reading on the front porch.
I couldn't wait to see the house!

Here's the front door and stairs leading to the guest rooms.
The living room was stocked with reading material - from Great Britain, of course.
Then Jenny led us up the stairs to ...

.... our room, where Hubby made himself right at home.
Each room is named after a London subway station.  We had the Victoria Suite with a sitting room and 'en suite bathroom.

There was only one other couple staying here so I was able to take pictures of some of the other guest rooms.  This one is on the second floor too, but they had to go across the landing to their bathroom.

These are two more suites on the third floor.

The next morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the dining room.  Sorry I didn't get any food pictures.  I was too busy eating!  (Those chairs at the table by the windows look like mine at home in Arizona!)
The Londoner doubles as a tea room by day so, naturally, one morning we had fresh lavender scones and homemade lemon curd with our, oh so, British tea.

During our time in Bradenton/Sarasota we visited museums, went shopping, saw manatees, and toured a plantation.  I'll share about all those in posts to come!

  1. Very nice. If we have to stay in a hotel like place, we always prefer to stay in a small B&B.

  3. Oh, I agree, the wood floor on the porch would just pull me in and sit me down. What a fun place to stay. I love all of their colors on the walls. Your tea sounds fabulous. I still have to try making my own lemon curd - I will kick myself once I try it I am sure! Thanks for taking me along.

  4. I love big houses. I was living in a 12 ft trailer for 7 and half years as a child. Three people lived in a place that was big enough to turn around in period. Of course it was in Florida and most of our living we done on the front porch. Even sleeping when it was real hot!! Boy things have changed.

  8. What a charming home! Love all the furnishings in it. Sounds like you had a great time. We go to Florida a lot because all our kids are there. We used to live there too and still have a home there....Christine

  10. It looks like a lovely place to stay. I too prefer staying in a bed and breakfast over a hotel. So much more welcoming. Vanna

  11. *gasps!* So much at this spot TO.DIE.FOR! The picture of the chandelier just in front of the stairs going up, for instance...

  12. I found your blog while searching for the Manatee Village Historical Park... so funny, because we are planning our wedding over in Bradenton and will most likely have our ceremony at the Village's chapel, our reception at the South Florida Museum (snooty!), and stay at this bed and breakfast... and I see you wrote about all 3 of them! We stayed at The Londoner a few years ago and loved it. Sadly Jenny has gone back to England to be closer to her daughter, but a sweet woman and her husband bought the B&B and will be changing it over to a more Irish theme. We can't wait to stay there again under the new ownership, it's a wonderful place!
