Back to Key West - Part 2

We had a great time in Key West for Hubby's birthday.  While we were there we visited Mel Fisher's Treasure Museum.  I couldn't imagine the thrill of finding so much treasure!
We started out slow with various pottery and dishes.
Then it was on to the good stuff!
Plenty of silver coins.......
gold necklaces......
and gold plates.

All that treasure built up our appetites so we had to have cheeseburgers in Paradise at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, of course!

Thus rejuvenated, Hubby couldn't pass up the chance to tour a retired Coast Guard vessel at the Ingham Museum.
Officers slept in beds like this.
The crew slept in beds like these.
The crew ate here......
the officers ate here.....
and the captain ate here.  It's definitely better to be captain - or at least eat like one.

I have much more to post about our trip but tomorrow we'll be fleeing Hurricane Irene by moving, temporarily, to Georgia.  Hopefully, Juno Ocean Walk RV Park will still be standing when it's all over!  I'll keep you posted!

  1. Oh,, please do get out of there because of the hurricane! We were hit by Ike 3 years ago and I don't want to go through that again.
Now, what a wonderful trip you'e having. I had to chuckle because everywhere we go if there is a sub or ship you can tour, my hubby just has to do it. Of course that means me too! :)
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  2. The treasure museum was fascinating. There were so many lawsuits over the treasure, I am sure they sometimes wished they had not found it.

Glad you visited the Coast Guard Ship, that is always the best part of any day:))

  3. I always enjoy seeing where you're touring next.
It's so much fun seeing new places and experiencing new things.
    Loved the museum!
We are going to tour the Yorktown in a couple of wks. in Charleston. I hope I like it.

  4. Thanks for sharing the Coast Guard boat. When I think of Zach wanting to attend Naval Academy, I keep picturing him trying to sleep in berths like that...

Gorgeous treasures! I wish I were born with a gold spoon in my mouth!

  5. I really enjoyed seeing what life on the boat would've been like. I thought that first room with its sink looked pretty deluxe for a boat? Definitely better to be an officer, or better yet captain for sure! *winks* And I and my hubby love your hubbys tees! Vanna
